Playful mediation of Windows Gaming features and hardware through an interactive fair parcours
Gamescom is considered one of the biggest events in the gaming scene. The prospect of testing games not yet released or taking a look at the latest gaming hardware attracts numerous visitors every year. Microsoft's Windows Gaming Stand was intended to present both new features of Windows 10, which were specifically designed for PC gamers, and the latest gaming hardware. Accordingly, the challenge was to present new functions and products with a playful approach appropriate to the event.
By means of the FairWays Platform a customized solution was realized, which combines the themes of the booth into a playable and coherent course. For this purpose, scan stations placed on the fair stand were each equipped with mini-games that fit the assigned theme. For example, the visitor was supposed to drag suitable high-performance memory bars (RAM) into the right mainboard slot, assemble game titles by jigsaw puzzle or answer questions about Windows gaming functions. In order to participate, each visitor received a wristband, which could be used immediately by scanning at the first station. Each successful station was accompanied by a level increase. The highest level qualified for the participation in the regularly held competitions at the main stage. Thanks to anonymous evaluation, the exhibitor received an overview of active players and qualified candidates for a draw.
Thanks to the FairWays platform, a playful approach was thus realised, which brought the individual themes into a common context via NFC wristband. The achieved level is permanently connected to the wristband and serves the player as a digital memory.
